About the Presbyterian Preschool

Located in the small, friendly community of Rockaway Borough, our preschool has been in existence since 1956. We are a cooperative nursery school with a fully certified staff of warm, caring teachers that create an optimum learning environment for every child. The PCCNS is a non-profit, non-sectarian, traditional preschool. We offer low rates and flexible payment plans. Classes are 1/2 day sessions for 3, 4, and 5 year-old children.

What is a Cooperative Nursery School?

A co-op is a “large family” in a school setting where teachers and parents work together to create a nurturing and supportive environment for all, especially the children. Co-oping is an excellent way for parents to be directly involved in their child’s school by assisting in the classroom on a rotating basis. It is one of the highlights of our program. Although co-oping is optional, we encourage our parents to be part of the co-op experience.

Our School Philosophy

The preschool program is designed to promote emotional, social, intellectual and physical growth for all of our children. Our school’s well-balanced programs meet the needs of the children according to their age and development. Every child is special and is treated as an individual. Children learn in our multi-cultural environment. We firmly believe in the value of “Play is a Child’s Work.” Through play, children can learn cooperation, social and conversational skills, creative thinking and decision-making.

Our school provides a safe, secure environment for children to explore new ideas, make new friends and learn to love school. Our enthusiastic teachers allow each child to progress at his/her own pace through their encouraging and creative lessons. We are advocates for all children and strive to provide the best educational program for your child.
